Gianluca Pirisi begin the study of cello at the age of 12 with Francesco Pepicelli. By the age of 17 he fully graduate with summa cum laude at Giulio Briccialdi Conservatory of Terni, and started to study with Rocco Filippini, Giovanni Sollima, Umberto Clerici and Enrico Bronzi.
He achieved both Chamber music and cello Master at Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome in 2010 and 2018. In 2022 he completed his field of study at Academy of Pinerolo under the guidance of Enrico Bronzi, Miklos Perenyi, Rohan de Saram and Enrico Dindo ,obtaining the 3rd level Postgraduate degree in Musical Fields, Cello section.
Largely active both in orchestra and in chamber music, he has played as a solo and chamber musician in some of the principal Italian Music Festivals(Unione Musicale Torino, Amici della Musica di Palermo, Amici della Musica di Perugia, Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Filarmonica di Messina, etc....) and abroad(Amsterdam Cello Biennale, Cultural Institute of Paris, Kusatsu Music Festival,Werk 7 Munchen, Flander Festival Ghent, Hannover Staatsoper Festival ,Chopin Festival Warsaw etc...)
Between 2016 and 2018 he shared the stage with Giovanni Sollima in a series of two cellos and orchestra concert in Italy(Amici della Musica di Perugia, Accademia Filarmonica Umbra, Camerata Stumentale di Prato, Senato della Repubblica Italiana)and in 2018 he was appointed as official substitute of Giovanni Sollima for a series of 8 concerts as a soloist with the Hannover Staatsoper Orchestra.
In 2021 he debut with the legendary violinist Irvine Arditti and pianist Roberta Pandolfi in a chamber music program focused on Rhim and Kenaxis, that will be replicate and recorded in 2023.
His interest for the historical perfomance got him noticed by Fabio Biondi, Konzertmeister of Europa Galante,and since 2022 he was invited to a tour of concerts in Poland both in 2022 and 2023.
He’s currently Principal Cello of the Orchestra da Camera di Perugia, and he often play as Principal Cello in other orchestras in Italy and abroad(Teatro La Fenice, O/ Modernt Orchestra, Kusatsu Festival Orchestra.)
He’s also a founding member of the Ensemble Kinari, a chamber Music ensemble focused on the research and rebirth of unfairly forgotten music. In 2021 Ensemble Kinari released with Brilliant Records a full cd focused on the Chamber Music of Eliodoro Sollima.
